Historic neighborhood part of Stop Six with some new construction
Historic Rosedale Park is part of the Stop Six section of Fort Worth, a historical designation area built around 1896 for African American residents. Historic Rosedale Park is one of the few neighborhoods to retain its historical designation from the city. The Martin Luther King Community Center sits in the middle of the neighborhood next to the similarly named park. Bunche Park and two schools sit just south of the neighborhood. “There’s some pinnacle construction in Rosedale,” says Missy Starling, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker who has been in the business for over 20 years. “I have an investor who bought up four homes and is familiar with the historic designation.” Fort Worth also offers grants to the area. "As long as you fix up a property in that area, you can have taxes frozen for 10 years for the city taxes,” says Starling. “It takes research and investigation and time. The happy tears make it all worthwhile.”
Tranquility can be found in corners of Historic Rosedale Park.

Grant money for renovating ranch homes in Stop Six
The neighborhood is built around a grid layout of streets, mostly directed east and west. However there is a little curve on Victoria Place and Maceo Lane from north to east. In 2019, the area was part of the section of Stop Six to be awarded the $35 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. “Investors have bought and built up homes,” Starling says. Ranch-style homes are most common. Built in the 1950s and '60s, they range from $177,000 to $220,000. Homes sit close together, often with a one-car garage or an attached carport. Newer homes are more rare, but tend to be single story with prices ranging from $175,000 to $230,000.

Centered around Martin Luther King Park and community center
Martin Luther King Park and the Martin Luther King Community Center sit in the middle of the neighborhood, often acting as the focal point for residents. “This center hosts seniors programs, STEM and literacy programs for kids and community gatherings,” Starling says. East of the center are a playground and a trail winding through green space. To the west are tennis and basketball courts. Historic Stop Six Park, renamed in early 2024 from Rosedale Plaza Park, has just over 6 acres of green space along with a short, paved trail around the basketball court.
