Laid-back community near urban conveniences and natural beauty
Located in southeastern Fremont, Wiebel rests between the old and the new. Primarily residential today, the area was once known for its orchards, dairy farms and vineyards. It morphed from farmland to housing in the mid-20th century as San Francisco expanded. The sought-after area is divided into a developed western half and a rugged nature preserve to the east. Tucked into the Diablo Mountain Foothills, the neighborhood has hiking trails, highly rated schools and Fremont’s last remaining winery. “There’s everything within your reach, all over. Anything we want is right here,” says Debbie Rossetto, a Realtor with Everhome Real Estate and longtime Fremont resident. “The schools are the No. 1 attraction to that zip code and that area. It’s a very, very famous hiking spot, too.” Nature lovers are drawn to Weibel’s beauty, while commuters and urban devotees enjoy being minutes away from the 680 and 880 Freeways. But all the neighborhood’s residents enjoy the relaxing pace of life.

Arroyo Agua Caliente Park has open grassy areas for games of soccer or catch, shade trees and a full-size basketball court. The playground features slides and climbing areas while a walking path winds through the space, connecting to neighborhood sidewalks. Sabercat Historical Park is home to the Sabercat Creek Trail, a 2-mile paved pathway through a former paleontological site where fossils of mammoths, big cats and cave bears have been found. Informational signs are dotted along the trail to explain the area's significance. The 3-mile Mission Peak Trail runs through Mission Peak Regional Preserve on its way to the top of the mountain. This steep pathway takes conditioned hikers around five hours to complete, but the park has a network of trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Dogs are welcome, and many multi-use trails also allow horseback riding.
