Secluded communities in Gilroy’s wine country
Situated in Gilroy’s agricultural countryside, Eagle Ridge offers gated and master-planned communities a short drive from Silicon Valley. “It’s one of the few pockets in Gilroy where elegance and luxury are combined,” says Julio Orozco, a Realtor with Intero Real Estate Services, Inc. who’s lived in the area since 2011. “Silicon Valley residents are selling their starter homes, and they see they can buy a bigger house in a gated community and still have a 20-minute commute.” Eagle Ridge’s seclusion and privacy contribute to its overall CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4. While Gilroy is best known as the Garlic Capital of the World, Eagle Ridge’s residents are close to the area’s growing wine industry. Downtown Gilroy’s locally owned shops and restaurants are 4 miles away, and San Jose is a 33-mile trip.

Mediterranean-style homes along the fairway
The Eagle Ridge area is made up of two communities: the gated Eagle Ridge west of Santa Teresa Boulevard and the master-planned Glen Loma Ranch to the east. In Glen Loma Ranch, 2020s Mediterranean and Craftsman New Traditional homes sit close together on sidewalk-lined streets dotted with roundabouts. New homes are still being constructed.
Eagle Ridge’s early-2000s Mediterranean-style homes are spread out along a golf course. “There’s a security guard out front 24/7,” Orozco says. “They do a very good job of it. If I wanted to visit someone and they didn’t notify the guardhouse that I was coming, they’d call the resident to make sure they were expecting someone.”
In May 2024, the median home price was $1.5 million, 29% higher than Gilroy’s median of $1.1 million and 6% lower than San Jose’s median of $1.6 million. A four-bedroom Mediterranean-style home in Glen Loma Ranch can start at $1.1 million, plus homeowners association fees, while a four-bedroom Mediterranean-style home on the golf course in Eagle Ridge can cost $2 million, plus fees.
Mediterranean homes can be found scattered between New Traditional styles in Eagle Ranch.
