Centralized neighborhood near downtown Golden

Southridge-Golden is a residential area 2 miles from downtown that’s sandwiched between shopping and dining to the west, and a mountainous landscape in the east. “You can get everything you need right in the neighborhood. There’s easy access to highways, and if you want to go into the mountains they’re right there,” says Real Estate Associate Joy Brandt with RE/MAX Alliance, who has 45 years of experience and used to live in the neighborhood. Single-family homes are within walking distance of multiple community parks and trails traveling up South Table Mountain.

Southridge’s well-kept single-family homes

Most homes in Southridge-Golden sit on large lots with landscaped lawns and driveways. The streets are wide and dotted with mature trees. “The homes are mostly single-family, and it’s a little more affordable than right in downtown Golden,” says Realtor and Residential Specialist Andy Verleger with WestBound Realty, who has 20 years of experience. Ranch-style homes and split-levels are the main housing types, though there are a handful of raised ranches with tucked-in garages. These properties have brick and vinyl exteriors and were built in the 1960s and 1970s. Prices range from $600,000 to $950,000 for homes that span 1,100 to 2,500 square feet. There are also multi-story townhouses built in the 1980s that go for $600,000 to $700,000. Closer to South Golden Road, there are several apartment complexes offering units for rent, including Golden Arms Apartments and Fox Hill Apartments, which come with amenities such as an outdoor pool and a clubhouse.

Golden Town Center is the neighborhood’s central commercial area, with King Soopers for groceries and multiple restaurant options. Aladdin Mediterranean Grill and India’s Best Curry & Grill both serve authentic international cuisine. Fast-food restaurants include Papa Murphy’s and Sonic Drive-In. South Golden Road is also lined with retail and dining on the neighborhood's western edge. “They’re making a lot of improvements to South Golden Road in that area. There are a lot of new restaurants and breweries that are popping up. It’s kind of an up-and-coming area,” Verleger says. Blue Pan Pizza is a casual eatery with an outdoor patio and beer on tap. There are also multiple auto parts stores, small businesses and a Walgreens. Roughly 3 miles southeast is Denver West Village, a shopping center with national retailers like Marshalls, Old Navy and Whole Foods Market. Across the street is Colorado Mills, an outlet mall with dozens of department stores such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target and Famous Footwear. Downtown Golden is about 2 miles north of the neighborhood and has its own selection of unique boutiques and local restaurants.

A red cement pathway winds throughout the area’s grassy fields, functioning as a walking loop. Right outside the grounds is the Golden Roller Hockey Rink. There’s also an off-leash dog park at Ulysses for those with furry friends. The Golden Cyclocross Park is an unofficial cross-country bicycling course on the other side of Johnson Road with several riding loops to practice on. A weeknight race series called Back2Basics CX takes place at the park during the late summer. Nearby is Fossil Trace Golf Club and its 18-hole course, most notable for the dinosaur fossils visible on rock formations by the 12th hole. Several trails climb South Table Mountain along the neighborhood’s northeastern side. The Shoshonite Trail allows hiking, biking and horseback riding along it. Switchbacks assist with the steep elevation, and Thumb Rock is a picture-worthy attraction along the trail.
