Lively, growing suburb 25 miles northwest of Atlanta
From its humble beginnings in the 1800s as a railroad and mill town, Hiram has become an active community in Paulding County, one of the fastest growing in the United States, located about 25 miles northwest of Atlanta. “This area continues to grow as you have more people looking to get out of the city,” says Clay Thomas, Hiram resident and Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate | Metro Brokers. “The downtown area is busy, and it drives that community aspect. You’re close to shopping, but Hiram still has that rural feel.
New traditional homes in subdivisions
Homes in Hiram primarily feature spacious, multi-level new traditional homes and town houses built in the last 20 years, with some subdivisions popping up even more recently. A three-bedroom, new traditional style home in a Hiram subdivision typically costs just under $300,000. Homes in neighborhoods are shaded by trees, offering some privacy, and lawns feature green grass and minimal landscaping. Some older homes, primarily ranches built in the 1970s and 80s, sit on larger lots and sell in the mid-$200,000s. “The size of the lots here helps. You get more land, and you have space but also a chance to renovate some of the property’s lower [basement] levels,” says Thomas.
