Far South is south of Lincoln but it’s not far from what young families want
Directionally speaking, Far South is a good name for this Lincoln neighborhood, exactly due south of Downtown Lincoln. But at 6 miles from the city's center, the distance presents differently in the open spaces of Nebraska. In other words, not-so far. “The name is pretty funny to me because most clients I have consider 6 miles a short drive,'' said Josh Beyer, a Realtor for more than 10 years and the owner of Capital City Realty Group. "In fact, the location of Far South offers what many buyers want: newer homes and great Lincoln schools, but a quick drive to amenities like dining and parks. And that’s exactly what they’ll find here.”
Thunderbird Estates subdivision accounts for most of the residences in Far South. Homes were built in the 1980s and ‘90s and offer four to five bedrooms and generally more than 3,000 square feet. They offer distinctive exteriors and no two look alike. Homeseekers will find expanded ranch-style homes next to one-of-a-kind log-style homes across the street from traditional colonial-influenced homes. Homes in Far South tend to sell at or above the asking price. Nearby are one-of-a-kind parks and Bess Dodson Walt Branch Library right next door.
