Suburban living next to downtown Lynn
Lower Boston Street is a little suburban neighborhood in Lynn that is outlined by many public parks, conservation land and playgrounds. Its proximity to nature and recreation space is a major draw and makes it attractive for homebuyers. “It’s less city, so it feels a lot more like a suburb, especially for being so close to downtown Lynn,” says David Tran, a local Realtor who sells in the Lynn area and works as the team leader at Homexe. Residents can either head 2 miles east to the restaurants, shops and the commuter rail station in downtown Lynn, or they can drive several miles north and immerse themselves in nature with miles of woodland hiking trails at Lynn Woods Reservation. Nearby access to Massachusetts Route 1A also makes reaching Boston, which is about 12 miles away, an easy commute.
Public parks and playgrounds around Lower Boston
The community is surrounded by various city parks and playgrounds. Breed Park borders the west side of the neighborhood and has a baseball field, basketball and tennis courts for children to play, run around and burn off energy. Young soccer players who joined Lynn Youth Soccer can head to the nearby Hood Playground for games and practices. Several blocks away, Barry Park has another athletic field, open green space and play structures. Additional sports fields such as Manning Field, Fraser Field and Gallagher Park are around the east side of the neighborhood. Lynn Common, which is southeast of the community, has an expansive green stretch for picnics and is home to community events such as the local farmers market. For those seeking a more complete outdoor respite, the 2,200 acres Lynn Woods Reservation is 4 miles north and is the second largest municipal park in the United States. Popular locally as a place for dog walking and workout runs, the park offers abundant outdoor recreation, including 30 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and cross-country skiing.

Victorian-era single-family and multi-family homes in Lynn
The neighborhood’s long streets are lined with sidewalks, making it easy for morning runs or evening walks around the block. Dating between 1870 and 1950, many area homes are Dutch Colonials, Craftsman bungalows, ranch styles or traditional houses with raised foundations, porticos connected to the front yard by staircases, pillared balconies or protruding windows. While most single-family homes fall between $400,000 and $650,000, there are a handful of larger remodeled properties fetching around $800,000. Entire multi-family structures that have five to seven units are usually around $700,000 to $1 million. Lot sizes can be as small as 1,000 square feet, with the average around 4,000 to 6,000 square feet. “We’re in a low inventory market,” Tran says. “First-time home buyers are the biggest buyer pool, so there’s still a lot of demand for a quicker sale at a lower price point.”
