The heavily residential community of North Middletown sits along the Jersey Shore, providing residents with the luxury of living minutes from the beach and easy access to New York City right across the water.

Residents are ultimately drawn to the area because of the feasible public transportation into New York City, whether you travel by ferry, bus or train. Waking up to views of the Manhattan skyline and Sandy Hook Bay are added bonuses. Lisa English, a broker associate at O’Brien Realty - English Properties Team, says the area's price point is attractive for new residents. "In North Middletown, you can get homes for under $400,000." Vacant lots range from around $200,000 to $300,000 for homes near the water, while single-family homes start in the high $200,000s and can reach nearly $700,000 for new construction. Beachfront homes tend to go for around $750,000.

It's ideal to live within minutes of the beach, right? North Middletown takes it literally, given its neighborhood spot is called Ideal Beach. Locals say Ideal Beach is relaxing and secluded with beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline and is an excellent alternative to Sandy Hook during busy beach days. Meet up with friends for a pickup game at McMahon Park courts. Or, play tennis as children romp around on the playground. A portion of the Henry Hudson Trail runs through North Middletown. Walk along this relatively flat trail as it meanders through trees, near wetlands and streams.

Being a heavily residential community, you will venture into the greater township area to grab a bite. One such place is Barrel & Roost. From the minds behind Restaurant Nicholas (which Zagat ranked as the highest-rated restaurant in New Jersey for 15 years in a row), comes Barrel & Roost in the same space. The white tablecloths are gone in this modern farmhouse interior, where neighbors like to meet for dinner and drinks. The menu here mixes in some favorites from Restaurant Nicholas and new items. Locals also flock to Big Mike's Little Red Store, a breakfast-and-lunch spot in a former 1860s general store, where you can enjoy breakfast classics and deli sandwiches crafted by a former chef from Restaurant Nicholas. When in the mood for a sweet treat, head to Polar Bear Ice Cream for handmade ice cream. Enjoy a bagel with shmear or a loaded breakfast sandwich at Gem's House of Bagels.

Local kids can attend the Middletown Township Public School District, which Niche describes as an above-average school system, ranking it in the top 20 best New Jersey school districts for athletes and in the top 100 New Jersey school districts with the best teachers. The district divides its students among 11 elementary schools, like Ocean Avenue Elementary, before sending them to three middle schools, such as Thorne Middle, and then finally to two high schools. At Middletown High School North, students can earn an associate’s degree from Brookdale Community College while earning their high school diploma. High school students can also apply to one of Monmouth County's five specialty high schools focusing on communications, health sciences, biotechnology, marine science and engineering.

With easy access to Jersey beaches and Manhattan, highly ranked public schools and great local restaurants, you can have it all in North Middletown.

One reason why I love North Middletown is the community. They are very kind whether you are a new neighbor or a local resident. The community is always willing to help out whether it is a food drive, clothing drive, donation drive, etc. One thing I would like to see changed is our school curriculum. I would like to see that changed because many students are struggling in our schools due to the curriculum layout.

Middletown is the perfect town for any child looking for a promising future. It has all the components to what I would want my own children to grow up in. It was rated the safest town in New Jersey in 2017, it has a multitude of small businesses, kindhearted people, and a very strong education system. I would have no problem living in Middletown when I am older.

I like the local small business interest in Middletown, as well as how I am connected to various resources. The beach is ten minutes east from me and farmlands are ten minutes away as well yet in the opposite direction. I go to a local coffee shop or bagel shop and the employees are friendly and recognize me after. I wish there was more diversity here, as I am Middle-Eastern compared to the other majority of Irish or Italian of the town. Overall, I am happy that I was born and raised in a town filled with all my memories.
