Oxoboxo River is a nice, rural area near Norwich.
Rural hamlet in southeast Connecticut close to entertainment
Set among the agrarian hills and untouched waterways of southeast Connecticut, Oxoboxo River offers an idyllic lifestyle halfway between Norwich and New London. A census-designated place within the town of Montville, Oxoboxo River comprises two villages—Uncasville and Palmertown—and gets its name from the Mohegan and Pequot word meaning "small pond outlet.” The brook still flows through the length of the neighborhood, snaking through Rockland Pond, Picker Pond and Red Mill Pond before emptying into the Thames River. “It’s a nice, rural area,” says Realtor Heidi Cordray of Carrington Real Estate Services, noting that lower taxes and spaced-out properties are a pull for residents.
