With more residential homes than commercial sections, Green Hill is a suburb east of Nashville with an exclusive community atmosphere. To the north, the winding Cumberland River offers several coves where boats anchor and mingle. In the southern area, U.S. Route 70 and the city of Mt. Juliet are both teeming with eateries, shopping plazas, grocers and other establishments. Green Hill’s proximity to downtown Nashville—only 18 miles west—allows for quick rendezvous in the city, while also being far enough away from the commotion. “Green Hill doesn’t feel like a neighborhood as much as a high-income area,” says Diane Journell, a Realtor at Benchmark Realty with 8 years of experience in the Mt. Juliet region.
From townhomes to waterfront coves
The quiet residential streets are lined with trees shading front lawns and a variety of housing styles. “Green Hill has old homes next door to new constructions, apartments, and million-dollar properties,” says Journell. Townhomes with brick accents and attached garages range from 1,400 to 2,300 square feet in size and $330,000 to $475,000 in price. There are also 1,300- to 3,500-square-foot ranch homes, cottages, Craftsman houses and Colonial Revivals, some with front porches and multicar garages, for around $400,000 to $850,000. Contemporary houses on the river, postmodern Craftsman and Farmhouse builds, some with brick facades and up to an acre of yard space, range from 4,000 to 8,500 square feet and sell between $800,000 to upwards of $3.3 million.

Recreation between Old Hickory and Percy Priest
In the northern part of the suburb, Shutes Branch Recreation Area offers kayaking, fishing and boat access on the Cumberland River, as well as wooded walking trails through pockets of wildlife like great blue herons. Southeast of Green Hill near Mt. Juliet Town Center, Eagle Park has a playground, a free little library and a 2.5-mile paved biking and walking trail. Nearby, kids enjoy the playground and splash pad at Charlie Daniels Park, a park named for the country singer that also offers a live music venue, sports fields and courts, and trails along a creek. "A lot of locals take their boats and kayaks north to Old Hickory Lake or south to Percy Priest Lake, or they walk their dogs and sunbathe by the shore,” adds Journell.
