Hunters Woods Park sits towards the neighborhood’s edge, carrying an array of park staples such as a playground and trails. The park also caters to those who enjoy the fishing life, having its own pond. Similar amenities can be found a few miles south at the DuPage River Park. Additionally, residents can find sports fields and courts at the DuPage River Sports Complex. This area caters to sports such as baseball, basketball, pickleball, tennis, and skating. The Naperville Riverwalk is the heart of the city with its stellar landscaping and picturesque views of the DuPage River. Besides the nearly two miles of trails in this park, folks can enjoy the ice rinks, paddleboats, sand volleyball, sled hills and picnic shelters.

Hunters Woods students can attend schools in the nationally ranked Naperville District 203. This district carries an A+ Niche Grade and ranks within the Niche’s 2024 Top 10 districts in Illinois. Scott Elementary School teaches students from kindergarten through fifth grade. This school carries a high rating of an A+ Niche Grade. Madison Junior High School offers 12 clubs and eight sports for students to participate in. Their work in the classroom is also notable as the school carries an “A” Niche Grade. Nearly 30 AP courses are administered at Naperville Central High School. However, students can also enroll in specialized classes such as agriscience or technology and engineering.

Locals connect at the library
A beloved community spot is the Naperville Library on Naper Boulevard, which is west of the neighborhood. This library is the smallest of the three libraries within the Naperville Public Library system. “It’s a small-town library and is more intimate,” Della Terza says. “People have an ownership of the Naper Boulevard library because it’s in their area. There’s a sense of pride. They feel at home.” Besides carrying the latest literature, the library acts as an after-school spot for students and a community meeting space.
Neighborhood eats at Market Meadows Shopping Plaza
Residents can drive within a short radius to find some local food joints and popular shopping spaces. Two miles north, you’ll find the Market Meadows Shopping Plaza. This plaza carries the nearest grocer, Jewel-Osco, and the local pizza shop Freedom Brothers Pizzeria and Alehouse. This neighborhood spot serves handmade pizza and Italian dishes while playing the sounds of rock and roll music. Before heading to work, residents can grab a bite of breakfast from the Big Apple Bagels shop located two miles west. Several department stores can be found three miles south within a mixture of plazas. Some stores include Target, PetSmart, Kohl’s, Big Lots and Ross. Then, folks needing to commute to the city can find the Naperville Metra Station to the north.
