Refined suburban style that hits a hole in one in south Naperville

With the name “Tamarack Fairways” adorning one of its subdivisions, residents of Naperville’s Tamarack neighborhood tend to be drawn to the prominent golf course running through its center. But the sophistication of the greens extends to the community around them, with recently built homes offering refined stylings in the south end of the city alongside convenient shopping and unique dining experiences. “Some of the houses sit on the golf course, for the folks that are looking for that scenic view,” says Raelisa Schmidt, a Realtor with HomeSmart Elite Arrow Team. Schmidt has sold homes in DuPage County for more than eight years and points to Naperville’s family-oriented charm as a primary draw for residents.

Contemporary executive homes with a golf course backyard

Most of Tamarack’s homes were established in the 2010s, and the oldest homes date back to the late 20th century. Common features include new traditional stylings, brick-laid exteriors and four- to five-bedroom floorplans. “Many homes were built in the 2000s, which makes it desirable to homebuyers. Many of these communities have golf courses and HOAs for larger pool facilities that are more elaborate,” says Amy Pearson, a broker with @properties and a lifelong resident of the Naperville area. Square footage is plentiful for homes nearby, with many homes having more than 3,000 square feet on half- or full-acre lots. Single-family home prices range from about $600,000 to more than $1.3 million.

Important things to know

Naperville’s evolution into the fourth-largest city in Illinois has come with an increased demand for local government and businesses to accommodate the rights and needs of a diversifying population. Efforts to improve the quality of life for residents of all identities started in the 1960s with the adoption of laws for fair housing and desegregation, and have continued into the present with the work of the city’s diversity, equity and inclusion department, established in 2021.
