Suburban living close to Nashville
Along the curving Cumberland River in central Tennessee, Greenwood’s tree-lined streets belie its status as a quiet neighborhood. It’s quiet indeed, but as a component of East Nashville it retains the identity that defines “Music City” and the surrounding area. Murals are scattered across the area, with the creativity of residents shining through and feeding into the state capital, with the city a hub for artists past and present like Johnny Cash, the Allman Brothers and more. “It’s the creative focal point of Nashville,” says Michael Gomez, the broker and owner of Hive Nashville LLC.
Food with international influences
For a New Orleans flair, stop into Spicy Boy’s. It might look like a house, but inside patrons can find booths and a bar or head out the back door for a patio seat. The establishment’s sister shack Icy Boy’s is a minute or two’s walk down McFerrin Avenue and onto Cleveland Street, where the spicy food can be chased with a snowball designed to retain its syrup from a menu of dozens of options. “There’s The Pharmacy, which is one of the best burger joints there is,” Gomez says. “You also have Once Upon a Time in France. The area’s full of really cool places.” Other local offerings include Asian fusion at Nomzilla, craft-made cocktails at Pearl Diver and an expansive wine selection at Love and Exile, while anyone craving Mexican food can find more tacos at Mas Tacos. For grocery needs, Publix is just across the northeastern boundary near Greenwood Avenue, and Main Street on the eastern border has plenty of nightlife options. Get supplies for furry friends at Spot’s Pet Supply & Dog Wash, which offers products for all kinds of small animals.
