Hilly terrain and winding roads

Cars drive slower and things are quieter in Northwest Nashville, a suburb about 7 miles from Music City. The area is hilly, which lends itself to a few different picturesque event spaces and some houses that sit on rolling green acreage. Highways surround the town, making it easy to travel and commute into and around the city. “It's one of the few areas around Nashville that is still affordable, where you can find a house for under $400,000 and still be 10 minutes from downtown,” says Steven Russell, a Realtor at Reliant Realty Era Powered with 20 years of experience in the region.

Ranch homes and Farmhouse Revivals

In the residential areas, an assortment of architectural styles exists. Older brick ranch and raised ranch homes, Farmhouse Revivals and Colonial Revivals, many with attached garages and driveways and some set back on hills with expansive flat lawns, range from 1,500 to 3,500 square feet in size and $300,000 to around $700,000 in price. Newer townhome developments with units around 1,700 square feet can be found for $400,000 to about $550,000. The terrain and industry are very different from nearby Nashville, which was done on purpose. “This area of Davidson County is not very developed because it was developed last, and people want to keep it that way,” says Michael Allison, owner of Nashville Glassblowing and 15-year resident of the area.

Highway convenience surrounding town

Clarksville Highway, otherwise known as U.S. Route 41, runs along the east side of town where many WeGo Transit bus stops are peppered near the area’s shops and restaurants. Briley Parkway runs along the north and west parts of town, and Ashland City Highway weaves through the south. All of these busy thoroughfares conveniently connect to major interstates, leading into downtown Nashville or farther outside of the city.

To-go plates on Clarksville Highway

Residents head to Clarksville Highway for most of their shopping and dining needs. There, they can grab groceries at Kroger or the more local Hunter’s Hometown Foods. Big Mama’s Soul Food serves up traditional soul food plates and Real Deal Barbeque Grill is a local favorite that offers sandwiches and wings. Residents also fill up at Little Barn Market or Kroger before they head back to the residential parts of town.

Local walking trails and expansive bookshelves

On the south side of town, locals take advantage of the walking trails and green space at Joseph Brown Mullins Park, where the Whites Creek Greenway begins. On the east side at Timothy Park, families enjoy the playground, paved walking path, baseball diamond and outdoor basketball courts. Nearby, the Bordeaux Branch of the Nashville Public Library offers 20,000 square feet of space for all ages, including an interactive kids' area and a laptop vending machine.

Wedding venues and music festivals

Just north of town are a few venues and farms off Eatons Creek Road. “There are quite a few family-owned farms around here that grow produce and sell it at local markets and restaurants,” says Allison. Flowers’ Farm is both a garden center and a deer processing center. Woodland Hollow at Annie Acres has a spacious wedding event space. Further Farms is a farm and outdoor venue that hosts different eclectic markets and music festivals throughout the year. Back in town, the Ivy Center of Nashville is another event space that primarily hosts weddings.
