Established in 1904, the residential community of Newburgh Heights rests south of Cleveland's metro area. The neighborhood contains a number of century-old homes, many sitting on quarter-acre lots. The urban village hosts several American Foursquares and quaint bungalows with wide-set front porches. Colonials are also a prominent architectural style in Newburgh Heights. You'll see the curved eaves of Dutch Colonial rooftops. Detached garages are standard in many homes and are often located toward the back of the property. Typically, Newburgh Heights residences in this market fall within the price range of $100,000 to $150,000. Potential homebuyers may also benefit from the village's Student Loan Assistance Grant Program. Enacted in 2019, the program encourages residency and supports homeownership in Newburgh Heights.

The village is home to the Washington Park Community School, an independent charter open to kindergarten to eighth grade. Newburgh Heights is also a part of the Cuyahoga Heights School District. The district earned an A on Niche and promises over 30 extracurricular activities to get your students involved. The elementary, middle and high schools share a campus on 71st Street. Cuyahoga Heights Elementary offers gifted programming, and dedicated students can participate in the AP and Honors courses offered at Cuyahoga Heights Middle School and Cuyahoga Heights High School.

Washington Reservation, a part of Cleveland Metroparks, is a 59-acre recreational retreat within the village. Take in the surroundings as you leisurely stroll along the paved walking trails. Over 40 acres are dedicated to a public 9-hole golf course and driving range that hosts athletic programs sponsored by First Tee-Cleveland. Kathy Edwards Park is a smaller green space that used to be an industrial site. Today, the neighborhood park has a baseball diamond, open fields and playground equipment.

Newburgh Heights is primarily residential in nature, but locals can access nearby shops and restaurants less than five miles away. To the east is a Save A Lot when you need to gather grocery items for your next meal. Dave's Market in Slavic Village is a popular grocery store option for product selection and in-store butcher. Home goods and other supplies may be gathered at Target to the east. To sample the area's eclectic flavors, visit Marsha's Soul Food Café, where you can order comforting favorites like fried catfish, mac and cheese, or a cheeseburger. Cleats Club Seat Grille Old Brooklyn is a frequented spot for tacos and chicken wings.

After dark, you don't have to head home. Niche has rated the nightlife in Newburgh Heights as B+. The community has its fair share of nearby watering holes. The 49 Street Tavern is located just outside the community. You can sit on the outdoor patio and enjoy live music while savoring a meal and frothy craft drinks. Brown's Tavern is another laid-back establishment that gives the feeling of a local neighborhood bar.

But, if you prefer a cozy night inside with a good book, you can reserve items from the Cleveland Public Library and pick them up at Newburgh Heights Village Hall using the Grab & Go Book Lockers anytime.

The local government is committed to promoting sustainability in the village by implementing development programs like building renovations through The Village of Newburgh Heights Community Improvement Corporation. Additionally, residents with homes 50 years and older can receive assistance through the Cleveland Historical Society Heritage Home Program. For over 100 years, the established village of Newburgh Heights has been an enduring presence on Cleveland's southside.

Lucky not too much crime, safety is well, but it's not a neighborhood I'm looking to stay in.

If you are looking for a good starter home and have no kids then I would recommend Newburgh Heights. Cops will leave be if you're a resident and aren't into crime. Though they might ticket a visiting family member or friend.
