Small residential enclave in the Oakland Hills

Melrose Heights is a quaint, traditional suburban neighborhood near the heart of Oakland, with the hustle and bustle of downtown just 7 miles away. Along with a vibrant housing landscape, one of the neighborhood’s biggest highlights is that it is conveniently within walking distance of nearby parks and restaurants. "Melrose Heights is a beautiful neighborhood offering million-dollar views that's a great value compared to other hills neighborhoods," says Michele Senitzer, a real estate agent at Compass Real Estate who has sold in the area for over a decade and lives in neighboring Alameda. "It's a friendly community where people love walking their dogs and meeting their neighbors," Senitzer says.

While small stucco bungalows dating back to the early 20th century make up most of the housing types, larger Mediterranean and Victorian-style homes are also common. Home prices typically range between $800,000 and $1 million.
