Within just 13 miles, resident of Britton Courtyard can go to downtown Oklahoma for activities.
OKC suburb with options
In the words of writer and philosopher Mokokoma Mokhonoana: “In business, wrong location leads to suffocation.” The same could be said of real estate, but residents of this small neighborhood in northwestern Oklahoma City are certainly not stifled. “Britton Courtyard is a very conveniently situated little neighborhood in this part of the city,” says Kathy Parker, a Realtor with eXp Realty. Situated less than 2 miles west of Lake Hefner, and just blocks away from the Northwest Expressway, this area offers its residents nearly unparalleled access to retail, dining and entertainment options.

Close to major retail
With the Northwest Expressway immediately to the south, residents are in close reach of three shopping centers with everything you might need from grocers, dining and everyday items with Rockwell Plaza, Brixton Square and Silver Springs Pointe shopping centers. On the south side of the freeway, Feast offers Asian and American cuisine in a casual buffet style environment. At Banana Thai Kitchen you can enjoy some of the best pad Thai in the area along with other traditional dishes. From their perch on the west side of Lake Hefner, Britton Courtyard residents are close to the Kilpatrick Turnpike as well. A long-term northwest OKC resident herself, Parker notes that proximity to the two major thoroughfares is a big reason she and her family love the area, explaining that “being close to the two major highways is a big draw to this side of town.”
Classic ranches and ramblers
Most of the closely spaced, classic ranch-style homes here were built in the early to mid-1970s. While some have been updated with new finishes in the kitchen and open-concept floorplans in the decades since, Parker notes that many have retained “a lot of their original vintage charm.” A two-bedroom rambler with a cozy closed floorplan and original knotty pine paneling in the den is $220,000, slightly under the median for the city. Throughout the neighborhood people in the market can expect to pay anywhere between $150,000 and $350,000. Parker explained the neighborhood is typically a lower volume area with few listings at any given time. “The market in this particular section of northwest OKC is slower than it is in other sections.” Britton Courtyard homes tend to stay on the market for more than a month, nearly two weeks longer than homes in neighborhoods nearby.

Putnam City Schools
Students begin at Wiley Post Elementary School, rated a C on Niche.com before moving onto Hefner Middle School and Putnam City North High School, rated B-minus and a B respectively. Parker says that both of her children “excelled” at Putnam City North and went on to breeze through college as a result of their great education. She attributes their success in school to the many AP classes they were able to take as well as the school’s size, noting: “Putnam City schools are not nearly as crowded as some of the schools farther north.” The student-to-teacher ratio at Putnam City North, one of the district’s three high schools, is just 14 to 1.

Lake Hefner
Less than two miles away from Lake Hefner, proximity to the waterfront is also a big draw to the neighborhood. Sporty Britton Courtyard residents can head to the lake for all kinds of activities on the water or on land, from boating and fishing to biking, rollerblading or strolling along the paved trails circling the shoreline. “If you’re not physically active, just go out on a Saturday afternoon and watch the sailboats, it’s beautiful,” Parker says. With spectacular waterfront sunsets, she says: “You almost feel like you’re in a beachfront town. It doesn’t feel like you’re in Oklahoma.” At Lake Hefner Golf Club there are two challenging courses to choose from, each featuring their own unique hazards and fairways coated with bunkers.
