Once the site of a plantation and citrus grove, the town of Orange Park has grown into a suburban area on the northeastern corner of Clay County. Considered a bedroom community for the sprawling city of Jacksonville, Orange Park residents attend annual parades, drive golf carts on residential streets and enjoy outdoor recreation. "People live in Orange Park for its proximity to the [Naval Air Station Jacksonville] base, and because it's outside of Jacksonville, so it's not as crowded," says Danyelle Dennard, a Real Estate Agent with United Real Estate Gallery, who lives and sells in the area. The community dates to the 18th century, with well-preserved buildings and other landmarks in the River Road Historic District. The town only spans 5 square miles, but locals consider the surrounding area to be a part of Orange Park, such as Oakleaf Plantation. The township is in the Orange Park Census County Division, which has a population of around 94,000.
Dennard says that Orange Park is a hub for recreational activities like boating on the lake, golfing at country clubs and exploring trails suitable for equestrians. It's common to see golf carts and parked boats in driveways. Several decades ago, calling Orange Park home was considered a point of pride, and Dennan says this is still true. "The master-planned Oakleaf community was developed around 20 years ago, and that brought more people to Orange Park," Dennard says, who also relocated to the Oakleaf development.
In 2020, the local government created Vision 2040 through community input. The plan has spearheaded upgrades to public spaces and the creation of Orange Park After Dark, a live music series for adults.

Many residences beyond the town's limits share an Orange Park mailing address. Homes include ranch styles and new traditional houses dating from the 1950s to the early 2000s. "Orange Park has developments that offer more amenities than other communities in Jacksonville," Dennard says. "Oakleaf Plantation is a big one that has Eagle Landing. And there's Orange Park Country Club." She says these communities offer private amenities like golf courses, pools, clubhouses and neighborhood trails. Many residents pay fees associated with homeowners associations and Community Development Districts (CDDs). The median price for single-family homes is $360,000, higher than Jacksonville's median price of around $334,000. Orange Park's townhouses have a median price of about $244,000. Some of the area's most expensive homes are near the water, with listing prices ranging from $600,000 to over $1 million. Condos, ranging from $125,000 to just under $700,000, are also available near the water and throughout the city,
