College-town excitement with tucked away atmosphere

Located among the pine forests of Central Jersey, the community of Princeton North may at first seem to be worlds away from the bustling college town nearby. Despite appearances, however, residents still enjoy proximity to Downtown Princeton and the parkland along Millstone River – as well as access to shopping and dining options. “It’s a cliché, but it really is an ideally positioned spot,” says Cheryl Goldman, Realtor with Callaway Henderson and longtime resident of the area. “You have the opportunity to appreciate all that the area has to offer, while still being able to feel like you have your own space.” Full of historic charm in addition to the qualities mentioned above, Princeton North maintains a cozy, old-school atmosphere.

Old-school houses reflect local history

Arising along the Stony Brook tributary during the colonial era, Princeton North maintains a historic aesthetic amidst its green and outdoorsy backdrop. Traces of its early history are found it its abundance of Colonial and Colonial Revival houses – some of which date back to as early as the 1750s and featuring loving renovations. “People are drawn to the history of the area,” says Goldman. “You can’t help but marvel at some of the older homes here, homes that have seen so much history.” Other styles in the neighborhood include ranch styles and Cape Cods, with prices for a single-family home generally ranging from $500,000 to $1.5 million, though more palatial estates can for $2 million or more. Townhouses are also present, ranging from $400,000 to just over $1 million.

This positively enchanting stone home has been lightened, brightened and beautifully modernized! Thankfully, 1920’s features, like solid wood doors, brick floors and metal casement windows, were preserved and enhanced during the careful renovation. Peaked ceilings with exposed beams now feel even loftier and the living room’s grand stone fireplace commands attention against clean white walls.
