Home in Laurel Park were mostly built in the 1950s and ‘60s, although a few ‘40s and ‘70s models also appear. Mediterranean-style designs are most common in the neighborhood, with stucco facades and clay roofs appearing on virtually every sidewalk-lined street, but bungalows and Craftsman homes are also available. Home prices typically range from around $600,000 to $900,000. It's slightly more affordable than neighboring El Cerrito where the median is around $1.2 million. “Homes are sitting on the market a little longer than they have in the past, but are still moving eventually over time,” says real estate consultant Bobby King of Select Real Estate, who’s worked in Richmond for nearly 20 years.

Local schools within walking distance
Students in Laurel Park fall within the West Contra Costa Unified School District. John F. Kennedy High School operates in the neighborhood’s northwest section, less than a 15-minute walk from most residents. Around 850 students attend Kennedy High, which has a C-minus from Niche. A prime location for commuting
Laurel Park sits between Interstates 80 and 580 in southeast Richmond, about a mile north of Richmond Inner Harbor. It's also very close to a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, offering 20-minute train rides to downtown Oakland and about a 40-minute ride to downtown San Francisco. Several AC Transit bus stops line the neighborhood as well. “It’s in a prime location for commuters,” King says.
