Small ranch-style and split-level homes sit along narrow, gridded streets in Worthington, an established suburban neighborhood in Richmond’s South Side. This peaceful enclave, also known as Worthington Farms, is sought-after for three big reasons: aesthetics, affordability, and proximity to city amenities. “If you want convenience and some solidly built homes, this is the neighborhood,” says Katrina Young, an associate broker with US Realty One. Residents are 10 miles from downtown Richmond and 7 miles from Chesterfield Towne Center, two major shopping and dining areas. Staple public outdoor spaces like Forest Hill Park are also nearby, sitting about 4 miles from town.

Mature brick homes at an affordable price point
Worthington is solely residential, which provides a sense of peace and quiet from the surrounding highways and commercial spaces. Homes in this area are typically three-bedroom brick ranches or split-levels with a combination of brick and vinyl siding. Most were built in the 1950s and ‘60s and sit on lots of a half-acre or less with landscaped lawns. Homes here tend to sell for between $237,000 and $318,000. According to Young, inventory in the neighborhood is “medium” and “steadily moving.” “It’s not as fasted paced [as it was during COVID] … but it is still on the move,” she says.
Brick ranch homes sit on lots ranging in size from a quarter to a half-acre.
