A suburban city 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta, Riverdale is a growing community that appeals to a lot of airport workers and families that want to be close to the city. Affordable home prices, community solidarity, and accessible public services make this city appealing beyond its proximity to Atlanta and the airport. “It’s very established with families from all different backgrounds,” says Dana Lyons, Keller Williams Buckhead, who’s lived and worked in the greater Atlanta area for more than 26 years. “It’s very friendly to small businesses, there’s lots of local events and great food. There’s also a lot of barber shops and beauty salons where you can really feel the pulse of what’s happening in the city.

Room to grow
Neighborhoods tucked away off main roads feature a variety of home styles, including ranch-style, split-levels and Cape Cods with gable dormers on the second level. Many of the Properties come with yard space, and most residents have fenced-in yards that provide privacy and a safe place for children and pets to roam. Prices will vary on size and acreage, but on average, 3-bedroom homes may sell for between $240,000 and $300,000. Those prices are likely to rise quickly over the next few years, according to Lyons. “All my investors want to buy in Riverdale right now because there’s so much redevelopment going on,” she says. “I predict that in the next 10 years, you won’t be able to find property for less than $400,000.”
