St. Petersburg lake living near the beach and downtown
Cradled by a lake and nature preserve and centrally located between St. Petersburg beaches and downtown, Lake Maggiore Shores blends laid-back lake living with the big city. Its ideal location off Interstate 275, surrounded by outdoor recreation, is what’s luring newcomers and turning snowbirds into permanent residents. "People live in Lake Maggiore Shores because of its proximity to St. Pete Beach, Gulfport and the Broadwater area," says Quiana Hanley, a Realtor with Boutique Realty Florida, who has served the area for over five years. Three miles from downtown St. Petersburg and 1 mile south of a vibrant entertainment and arts district, the community offers residents a diverse selection of attractions in all directions. With most homes tucked behind the lake and surrounded by a blanket of towering trees, Lake Maggiore Shores provides the seclusion and privacy of country lake living with many amenities a short drive away.

The community borders the northwestern shore of Lake Maggiore, a hub for most activity. The 360-acre lake draws anglers and boaters. Dell Holmes Park is on the lake's western side and has a splash pad, fishing piers, a large playground, hiking trails, a boat launch and a driving range. “Dell Holmes Park is the busiest park in St. Pete," says Adul Yates, Parks Operations Manager for St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation. "People are at the putting green from sun-up to close." The heavily shaded Lake Maggiore Park borders its eastern side and has a boat ramp, a playground and picnic shelters. The 245-acre Boyd Hill Nature Preserve stretches around the lake’s southern edge. The wilderness refuge is a popular spot for camping and has an environmental education center, miles of heavily forested hiking trails and metal sculptures. Lake Maggiore Shores is 2 miles east of two bayous, which flow to Tampa Bay. Several marinas and waterfront parks line the shores, including Harborage Marina, Salt Creek and St. Petersburg Marina, which is also the home of the popular St. Pete Pier. A tourist and local attraction, the pier offers 26 acres of water sports and parks, along with outdoor concerts. FOr more fun in the sun, St. Pete Beach is 8 miles east of the community.
