A peaceful respite in the big city
“San Jose can seem really massive, and it is, but on this side of town things feel a bit more peaceful,” says local property manager Brent Slater. The large number of attractive qualities that West San Jose offers while still maintaining a peaceful vibe is what makes it one of the most in-demand neighborhoods in Silicon Valley –it has a lot of everything yet never feels like it is too much. “Most of the houses are very attractive, and they’re close to great stores and schools," says Slater.
Homely Craftsmans and elegant manors
The sea of homes that spread across West San Jose shines in the area’s sprawling suburban landscape. Craftsman bungalows and ranch-style builds primarily line these winding roads and cul-de-sacs with style, and elegant two-story builds and Mediterranean designs add to the area’s moderately upscale feel. Saratoga’s green surroundings spread into the neighborhood, lining sidewalks with towering trees and manicured shrubs. Townhouses like Regency Park and The Vineyards provide simplified dwellings with exclusive amenities like pools and clubhouse access. Townhouses range from $700,000 to $1.9 million, depending on the property. Single-family homes range from $2 million for a three-bedroom ranch-style build to $3.8 million for a spacious five-bedroom estate.

BMX in the valley, archery in the mountains
West San Jose’s dense residential surroundings leave plenty of room for neighborhood parks and green spaces. Calabazas Park sits along South Blaney Avenue offering tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a thrilling BMX track. Kevin Moran Park steps up the tranquility with a meditation garden, plus playgrounds and bocce courts for community fun. Local outdoorsmen might want something a bit more reclusive though. In that case, they choose to drive a little less than 5 miles west to visit Steven Creek County Park for hiking trails, lake fishing and archery. "You've got downtown in one direction and the mountains in the other, so we’re literally right in the middle of Silicon Valley,” says Slater.

Proximity to Westgate, Santana Row shopping
The convenient place in Silicon Valley puts residents within minutes of major shopping centers. Take care of any errand by connecting with Prospect Road and heading to Westgate Center, a go-to destination for department stores, shopping adventures and casual spots for a bite to eat. Those who'd rather avoid the mall crowds can head to Orchard Farms Shopping Center and shop at Safeway instead. Even away from the busy streets of Westgate, plenty of tasty food choices are right within reach of the neighborhood. Many locals start the day with a stop at Tea Top, the main spot in the area for fragrant teas and boba drinks. Others prefer to keep their dinner plans simple by picking up a pie from Cicero’s Pizza, a local favorite since 1968.
