Columbia City, a lively neighborhood
Columbia City is ideal for Seattle residents who desire a convenient commute to the downtown but also appreciate walkable access to a wide variety of parks, restaurants and boutique stores. “The best word to describe the area is ‘neighborly.’ There are so many opportunities to socialize and meet people,” says Real Estate Broker Julia Freilinger, who sells homes in Columbia City with Redfin. “The neighborhood is pretty unique and therefore highly sought after. Unlike South Seattle and Georgetown to the west, it isn’t industrial. And unlike Lakewood to the east, you can actually walk to local businesses.” Columbia City offers a mix of townhouses and historic homes, many of which have views of Lake Washington.

Recently a man was jumped and robbed in broad day light for his bag which was carrying only $20. Its safe to say that I wouldn't go out after 5pm, or alone.

The general atmosphere is pretty good and has good access to fresh air and sunlight. Also, there is a community garden right in our backyards. Although, there has been some crime in the neighborhoods next to us.

There is a lot of diversity in our area consisting of diversity in ethnicity, religion, political views and sexual orientation. Fortunately, we live in a very open and accepting area that allows for all these differences to coexist peacefully.
