The neighborhood is bordered by Downtown South Orange, which offers restaurants and businesses within walking distance. “People here love the quaintness of downtown, mostly independent businesses,” says Slade. Popular local restaurants include Miti Miti for Latin dishes, Jackie and Sons for brunch and Walia Ethiopian Restaurant. Route 510 is dotted with local businesses. There’s also a Stop & Shop on Valley Street for groceries.

And 2 miles west, the South Mountain Reservation offers over 10 miles of hiking trails.

Summer concerts, fall film festival
Around South Orange Village, there are events like their Summer Nights concert series at Flood’s Hill. Maplewoodstock is a free music and arts festival at Maplewood Memorial Park in July. And the Montclair Film Festival in October celebrates work from American and international filmmakers. West Orange also has more events, including their St. Patrick's Day Parade, the West Orange Street Fair and the West Orange Diwali Festival.
