A desirable master-planned Thornton neighborhood
In the north end of Thornton, just minutes from hundreds of acres of outdoor recreation, Signal Creek has walkable, tree-lined streets and a peaceful atmosphere. The neighborhood was the second master-planned community in Thornton, with well-maintained green spaces throughout and residents-only amenities. "Signal Creek is one of the higher-end neighborhoods in Thornton,” says Jessica Hernandez, a local real estate agent with Right Choice Realty LLC. “It’s a desirable area with luxury homes, and they don’t stay on the market for very long. Around nine of 10 clients that I show homes to in Thornton end up buying in the community.”
1990s architecture in Signal Creek
Signal Creek was developed throughout the 1990s, with architectural styles ranging from modern traditional and craftsman-style homes to Colonial and Tudor revivals. Houses sit close together on 5,000 square feet to quarter-acre lots, and most have fenced-in back yards and attached two-car garages. “The neighborhood has higher prices compared to some of the surrounding Thronton communities,” Hernandez says. “Because you’ll find more square footage and higher-end interior amenities here.” Price tags range from $550,000 to $800,000.
Dozens of extracurriculars at Horizon High School
Tarver Elementary School lies on the east side of Signal Creek and earns a B grade from Niche. “You have highly ranked public schools on this side of town, which draws in a lot of families with young kids,” says Hernandez. Century Middle School receives a B-minus and has around 30 extracurricular offerings, including clubs centered around hiking, fashion and aviation. The A-minus-rated Horizon High School is a short drive east and offers three career and technical education programs, including Business and Marketing, Family and Consumer Sciences and Computer and Digital Technologies. The high school also has over 40 school and student-sponsored clubs.
A community pool, miles of trails and sports facilities near Signal Creek
The Signal Creek Community Pool is open from May through September and hosts the Signal Creek Piranhas kids swim team. Walkers and bikers can access the 3-mile Signal Ditch Trail from 135th Place. The paved path spans north to Fallbrook Park and southwest to Hunters Glen Lake Park, which is a popular spot for walking, kayaking and fishing. The public Thorncreek Golf Course is also nearby, complete with 18 verdant fairways and a driving range. Eastlake Shores Park and Nature preserve are just south of Signal Creek, with tennis courts, a playground and a 2-mile loop trail. The nature preserve provides habitat for dozens of bird species.
Denver Premium Outlets and local eateries
Some of the most popular shopping spots in Thornton are within a few minutes of Signal Creek, including the Denver Premium Outlets. The outlet mall has around 80 shops and eateries, from sporting goods and jewelry to a sushi restaurant. Renegade Burrito is a local chain serving Mexican cuisine ranging from street tacos to breakfast burritos. Also nearby, the Allegro Coffee Company serves baked goods, tea and espresso in a laid-back atmosphere. The Thorncreek Crossing shopping center is a short drive south and, along with a selection of chain restaurants, is home to Target and World Market. For groceries, shoppers can visit Walmart or Sprouts Farmers Market.
Easy Access to Interstate 25
Interstate 25 is around 2 miles west of Signal Creek and can take drivers about 18 miles south to Downtown Denver or roughly 50 miles north to Fort Collins. Colorado Boulevard is lined with nearby bus stops operated by the Regional Transportation District.
