Home of the sports complexes
In the heart of Virginia Beach, Virginia, about 11 miles from the oceanfront, lies Landstown, one of the city’s largest areas, where leafy, established subdivisions and townhouse communities surround quiet neighborhood parks, bustling retail centers and vast athletic complexes. “Landstown is known around here as The Home of the Sports Complex because both the Princess Anne Athletic Complex and the Virginia Beach Sportsplex are there,” says John Fox, a lifelong Virginia Beach resident, the Student Activities Administrator for Virginia Beach Middle School and a part-time real estate agent. “The Sportsplex is home to the Olympic training center for field hockey, which is pretty cool.”
Townhouses, condos and ranch-style homes
Home seekers can find a wide variety of home types in the Landstown area, including two and three-bed townhouses, newly-built condos, and traditional and ranch-style single-family homes with up to four bedrooms. Home sizes range from 1,100 to 2,900 square feet, and list prices typically fall between $200,000 to $690,000. “There are many homebuying options in Landstown,” Fox says. “And the homes tend to be more affordable than some other areas nearby, like the Red Mill area, where prices start around $400,000 and can go up to $1.5 million.”
Landstown features several areas of new construction with beautiful modern homes.

Play at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex
Landstown offers its residents plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun with lovely green spaces, like Princess Anne Commons Gateway Park. Visitors here can run around the playground, walk the half-mile multi-use path or take in the beauty of the park’s crowning jewel, a sculpture by internationally renowned artist Dale Eldred titled the Light Garden. Not far from Princess Anne Park is the Veteran United Home Loans Amphitheater, a 20,000-seat venue home to summer music festivals and high-profile performers, from Creed to ZZ Top. For the sports-minded, the Princess Anne Athletic Complex, with its numerous tournament-quality softball and multi-purpose sports fields, lies just across the road from the amphitheater. And for the golf-obsessed, the nearby Virginia Beach National Golf Club, with its 18-hole Par 72 public course, is a hole-in-one.

Produce and baked goods at Virginia Beach Farmers Market
For a taste of the country, Landstown locals head to the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, where they can shop year-round for fresh produce, meat, seafood, gifts and more. There’s even an onsite restaurant serving down home country cooking with local ingredients. And the market’s Heritage Amish Bake Shoppe is a local favorite. “Everything in the Amish bakery is absolutely delicious,” Fox says. And there’s more to experience at the farmers market than fresh-baked Amish cinnamon rolls and whoopie pies. The market hosts several events throughout the year, including a Strawberry Jamboree, a Fall Festival and a Santa’s Workshop. “The Fall Festival is really fun,” Fox says. “The Farmer’s Market is just great overall. You get that farm feel, but you’re smack in the middle of Landstown.” Landstown residents are truly spoiled for choice regarding dining and retail options. In addition to the Famer’s Market, they can take their pick from numerous area restaurants like Baker’s Crust. Grocery and retail shopping options include Food Lion and Target.
