Walking distance to Western Springs amenities
The Ridge Acres neighborhood is in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs, where homes over 100 years old are priced into the millions and the schools are highly rated. "People move out of the city of Chicago to live in this school district," says Lauren Walz, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty. "Commuters love that you can walk to the Metra station." The neighborhood is quiet, with an overall CAP crime score of 1, and every significant category scores well below the national average.
New construction homes in Ridge Acres blend in
Though some homes in the neighborhood are on half-acre lots, many are laid out in classic suburban style, with little space between properties. Front yards are modestly sized, and mature trees provide lots of shade. “There’s some recent custom-built houses here where the style conforms to the existing styles,” Walz says. Those include Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial and Georgian dating to the 1920s. Those that have been renovated are priced from $700,000 to close to $2 million. “If something is priced around $500,000, it probably needs some work,” she says. The Foxford Station condo development features units that rarely go for sale, though one sold for $868,000 in 2024. Residents must also pay around $600 in monthly HOA fees for utilities such as water, gas and parking.

The north campus is where juniors and seniors go. It’s about a mile to the northeast in the community of LaGrange. The two campuses are necessary as the school is the 8th largest high school in the state and the 45th largest in the country. The most famous alum of the school is Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff.
