Community in The Villages close to many golf courses and recreation
Manatee Recreation Center sits just outside the Village of Hillsborough, one of the many neighborhoods that comprise The Villages, a vast 55-plus master-planned community in Central Florida. Like many of the recreation centers in The Villages, Manatee is a hub of activity, offering tennis and pickleball courts, shuffleboard, bocce and a swimming pool, as well as a dizzying amount of clubs and organizations that meet almost hourly, every day in the large beach-themed multipurpose room. “The Villages is like a cruise ship—there’s always something to do. You’ll never be bored there,” says Michael Vanek, a real estate agent with Florida Homes Realty & Mortgage and one-time Villages resident. While Hillsborough has its own rec center, Manatee is where most of the community’s clubs meet, a draw for residents looking to meet new friends.

Hillsborough Recreation Center offers an adults-only pool
Hillsborough’s rec center does have a perk that Manatee doesn’t: an adults-only pool. Manatee’s pool allows children and teens, while those under 30 are not permitted at the Hillsborough pool. Golf enthusiasts can choose to tee off at any course in The Villages, but have multiple courses close by, including the 27-hole championship course at Evans Prairie Country Club, the Palmetto Executive Golf Course, which offers nine holes of challenging play, or the Mangrove Executive Golf Couse, which is also nine holes but is a little easier. If those courses aren't up to par, golfers can pick from at least three other courses less than 5 miles from the neighborhood.
The pool at Hillsborough Rec Center is always getting use by Village of Hillsborough locals.

Residents head up Buena Vista Boulevard to Sumter County Road 466A to run errands at a collection of retailers, including Aldi, Publix and Lowe's. Brownwood Paddock Square, less than 2 miles from the neighborhood, offers clothing and specialty shops. Brownwood also has many places to dine out, including Fiesta Grande, a local chain serving traditional Mexican fare and popular for its margaritas, and Prima Italian Steakhouse, which serves seafood, steaks and classic Italian dishes. Closer to home, the Evans Prairie Country Club serves lunch, dinner and drinks in dining rooms overlooking the golf course.
