Williamston has a history of attracting visitors
Before automobiles were on the scene, Williamston was a stopover for people going to Detroit from Lansing. Fast forward to today, and it’s Williamston that has become the destination. Its rural beauty – the scenic Red Cedar River winds through the city's heart – is complemented by a downtown area packed with quality restaurants, unique shops and must-do activities. Young families are drawn by the area’s well-regarded public schools. Working professionals, including Michigan State University staff members and state employees, appreciate the quick commute to Lansing. A growing agrotourism scene attracts visitors from all over the state.

The upstairs event room at Williamston Pub & Grill is always hopping, while salmon sliders, burgers, and hotdogs flow from the kitchen to the dining room downstairs. Catching a live show at the Williamston Theatre is a favorite post-dinner activity. Keller’s Plaza is a historic building with nearly 20 specialty shops and businesses. The Commons at Williamston, a century-old school building turned shopping mall, hosts boutiques that sell everything from handmade soaps to antique furniture. D&W Fresh Market and PS Food Mart are nearby for convenient grocery shopping.
