About Joe
Joe Klarman joined Russell Jones Real Estate (RJRE) in 2001. This unique firm is one of the oldest independent real estate firms in Seattle and the oldest one on Broadway in Capitol Hill. He became designated broker (the first in over 30 years and only the 3rd in Russell Jones Real Estate’s history) in 2008. This was after following the founder, Russell Jones, and his son Allan Jones. After being a top producer in his firm several years, Joe moved through partnership quickly, and it was clear to the four partners, with a combined over 100 years of experience, that he was the clear choice to take leadership in this collaborative family based business.
Before taking on the role as Designated Broker, Joe grew up in the real estate business in California; he has tracked several markets and learned an eclectic negotiating style throughout his career. Joe works almost exclusively on a referral basis through clients, friends and associates He graduated from San Diego State University where he studied business and received a degree in Liberal Studies followed by a Teaching Credential.
In college, he managed apartment buildings and upon graduation began purchasing real estate property. He owned apartments while working as a teacher in the San Diego School District. Having been a teacher, he acquired the skills to translate information into an easily understood form. This ability still helps him to manage and set into place all of the moving pieces necessary for your transaction to be successful. Further it has enabled him to educate you on every step in the home ownership process and clearly prepare you for each step and set proper expectations. Joe’s goal has always been to make sure you are not going through the process unaware or uninformed. He credits this technique of "teaching" about home ownership as to why he has been so effective with first time and repeating home buyers and sellers.
Through representing buyers and sellers on their home and investment purchase and sales, he gained vast experience in his craft, fully spotting and negotiating developable properties for some of Seattle’s best known single family, townhome and multi family home developers and builders. He has also developed several townhomes and single family homes in Seattle and was the Principal of a small Seattle Based Development Company. He partnered and invested with Seattle Developers and built single family and multi family homes throughout the King County area. He is skilled on zoning and development potential.
When Joe is not in the office and working with clients, he enjoys interacting with the business community and supporting his local non profit organizations. He has been a board member at Hillel UW for the last eight years and along with his wife, was a founding member for a resource library celebrating culture through books and media related to Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and hard of hearing communities. He considers himself an ally of the LGBT community and he and his firm are active in the Pride Festival every year. His passion is facilitating new relationships and believes in a unique cooperative team model among his clients, partners, and associates.
