I have known John for 18 years when he helped me buy my first home in 2002. In 2017 after my mother passed away he helped me sell her home, even though the house was in Orange County. He gave me great referrals for all the work that needed to be done and was available to meet with contractors when I was working. He truly went above and beyond my expectations. When I decided to relocate to Washington state to be near my daughter and her family, I again called upon John to assist in the sale of the house he helped me buy 18 years ago. When we first decided that we wanted to relocate we interviewed a few agents and chose John O'Rourke. John said he could sell our house and get a higher price than we thought was possible. John said that he would work hard for us and get it done. After only a few days on the market, we had some offers. These fell through, but John was not discouraged. Another week went by and we had some more offers. We accepted an offer and opened escrow. We were delighted that things happened so quickly. Meanwhile, John was sending us daily updates on property of potential homes for us to buy. He was always quick to respond when we had questions by phone or e-mail. Whenever we wanted to see a home, he made time to show us the property. Amazingly, the first home we put an offer on was accepted. Since this was only the second home we ever bought, we relied on John's expertise to guide us in making the correct offer for a house that would fit our needs. About two weeks before our house was to close escrow, the title company found an old boundary issue that had not been settled. This boundary issue had gone through three homeowners and had not been discovered until now. As our house was set to fall out of escrow John really stepped up to the plate. He spent hours on the phone with title companies, the buyers' agent, the city planners and engineers to get it settled. Fortunately he found a way for us to continue and close escrow. Since we were in danger of losing the house that we wanted to buy, it was a double relief to get it settled. We can imagine that some realtors would have thrown in the towel when the boundary issue arose and let us fall out of escrow, but John worked hard on our behalf and his resolve kept us from losing out. We recently were involved in a 1031 exchange with a condo that we had owned for years. The selling agent we had hired turned out to be a real problem. The day before closing the deal fell out of escrow and we had to find another buyer. We were not informed of important changes since the new buyers were VA and with time being critical we decided to find a new agent to help with our purchases. We had decided to buy in Rancho Bernardo, and were fortunate to meet John through a Rancho Bernardo Real Estate office.
