Situated at the busy corner of 4th Street Northwest and Alameda Boulevard Northwest, Alameda Elementary School is truly the heart of the Alamedan Valley neighborhood. The school is steps away from trails, a Catholic church, a greenhouse and a community center, each vital to the life of this north Albuquerque neighborhood. Alameda Elementary’s approximately 250 students, known as the Mustangs, attend from prekindergarten through fifth grade. Recognizing the role of their families and traditions, the school offers a bilingual heritage program. Students develop Spanish language skills in speaking, reading and writing through an hour of instruction in Spanish daily. The library is a hub of activity, encouraging online daily library activities from book hunts to poetry illustrations. There is also an active Parents as Partners Program. Before- and after-school activities, ranging from archery, gardening, STEAM events and basketball, occur at the nearby Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center. Founded in 1954, Alameda Elementary continues to engage students, parents, staff and community partners in boosting students’ academic and social success.

The office staff and teachers are very welcoming. My child is warmly greeted by multiple teachers every morning when I drop her off. The school is doing more outdoor learning and field trips than in the past. There was a agriculture day with llamas, chickens, games and special visitors recently. It...

We were very satisfied for the first two and a half years but Penelope Broussard created an unwelcoming environment I would not be comfortable leaving my children in.

I cannot say enough great things about this school. My child has been given great learning opportunities within this little diamond in the rough. The school is small, diverse and a title one. It is a great school to have in our community where Mustang Spirit becomes contagious! Alice Braden and her...
