GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst Ohio is a fine school. I love that the partnerships between the school and the local community college has given me the opportunity to gain college credits while still in high school. My classmates are generally well liked, but it is high school, so there are sometimes petty disagreements and bad attitudes.

I would say that I received a decent education and that there were some really good teachers. I would have liked to see more diversity, though. I knew it was a predominantly white school before attending, but I think more diversity would have made me feel a little more comfortable.

Marion L. Steele Highschool has great academic opportunities through Lorain County Community College. They offer many pathways like JVS has well for a vocational route.

Pretty great. The teachers are very willing to help their students succeed and provide courses to help them get ahead, such as college courses and vocational classes/school opportunities

The community does not support the school system and the high school is not organized to handle that. Every extra curricular is pay to play and even after you scrap the money together, the Board of Education will have no record that you paid. The high school at Amherst is like a different planet whe...
