Loara Elementary School is located on W. Broadway, just west of the I-5 freeway. The school serves approximately 500 students from pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade and is one of the two dozen schools that make up the Anaheim Elementary School District. Loara Elementary focuses on creating a learning environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and integrity, as well as service to others. The core curriculum incorporates science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) and also places an emphasis on students' social and emotional well being as well. In addition to the core curriculum, there are a number of district-sponsored programs offered at Loara Street Elementary as well, including a unique Dual Language Immersion program in Spanish and English. Beginning in kindergarten, students are taught using a model that will enable them to think, read, write and communicate naturally in both Spanish and English. Classes are mixed with students who are both native English and native Spanish speakers. The school also offers a Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) that is designed to meet the academic needs of exceptionally promising students in grades three through six. Loara Elementary also has a Parent and Family Engagement Policy that helps to ensure that parents and caregivers play an active role in their student’s education. An award-winning YMCA-run after school program, known as Anaheim Achieves, is offered at Loara Elementary. The program provides a variety of fun and engaging activities that help to reinforce the curriculum being taught to students during the school day.

Elementary was a time in my life that flew by, not only was it one of my fondest and "easiest" part of life, but that was when I discovered I wanted to be a teacher. My first grade teacher tutored me after school because I was so far behind, and I was able to catch up. Now, I want to be there for other Elementary students from generations to come just like I was supported at my weakest times.

I am extremely disgusted at the treatment my child has received at this school. There is a huge bullying problem here and it's not just the children. The teachers (not all) but the one's my child has encountered are bullies to these children. The principal is very nice but that's where it ends, the...

Teachers don’t care about the students. Bullying is happening and when confronted with teachers it’s just brushed off. If your child is falling behind teachers won’t say anything or tell you unless you approach them. And even then nothing is really done.
