William Alexander Middle School 51 is a public school located at 350 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Families with children in grades six through eight are welcome and appreciated. Students build an academic foundation at William Alexander Middle School 51 while learning from their experiences. The school-based support team includes a social worker, psychologist, family worker, and educational evaluator to counsel students as needed. A solid academic curriculum helps to prepare middle school students for high school. Students may also choose one of six subjects as part of the arts curriculum, including vocal music, theater, instrumental music, dance, photography, or fine art, to explore their sense of self-expression. As a result, the school sends its graduates to the city's top performing arts high schools, receiving countless awards each year.

i had a wonderful experience at this school. i felt like i could be myself and the kids were friendly and welcoming. i was able to pursue my interests with supportive, yet challenging instructors and i never felt judged or belittled. even after covid hit, and i had a lot of trouble socially, my teachers looked out for me, and above all else, treated me like a human. i wont ever forget the kindness that students and teachers alike showed me here.

Ms51 is a great school for introducing a student to the arts and has excellent academics. The only downside is the lack of school sports/clubs.

Coming from an middle school where the teaching was mediocre, the teachers here at Beacon exceeded my expectations. My daughter stuggled in the beginning of the year a bit, but after attending tutoring available at school, she is doing a lot better.

This is a very disappointing school for our parents! I'm always worried about my kids getting bullied at school! The way the school director handled the problem was so perfunctory! I will not let my other children choose this school again!

My child went here for two years. The end of her second year she was bullied, threatened, attempted assaulted. It continued into the beginning of her third and last year. The school did absolutely nothing about it. The school doesn't care. They don't properly report incidents that happen in the DOE...
