Myers Park Traditional (Myers Park Traditional) Elementary School has come a long way from its initial brick building built in 1928 next to the Queens College campus. Today it serves approximately 650 students in kindergarten through fifth grade within the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) district. Students at Myers Park Traditional enjoy a varied curriculum with arts, physical education, foreign language and technology in addition to traditional language arts, math and science in a modern expanded facility that fits into the stately architecture of its surroundings. As a CMS magnet school, Myers Park Traditional focuses on character, responsibility and leadership development. It draws students from around 70 neighboring elementary schools via an application and lottery. Students here typically exceed state standards for language arts, math and science. Myers Park Traditional follows the innovative "Leader in Me" character development program, fashioned after the famous "Seven Habits of Highly Successful People" book by bestselling author and educator Stephen R. Covey. In 2021, the school was honored by FraklinCovey as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, signifying that it has achieved the highest implementation of the program and serves as a model for other schools to follow.

MPTS has been perfect for us. We moved from a large neighborhood school after our oldest student's K year. We have been so happy. Remote learning in 2020/21 was a challenge, however the staff of MPTS went above & beyond. They took a difficult situation and made the absolute best out of it. Both of o...
