GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at Monticello was scary and exciting in a good way. I have made friends throughout the two years I have been to Monticello and I bonded with a couple of teachers. The worst experience I have encountered is that some teachers have some understanding of students' situations and my school counselor doesn't talk to me about my senior year and how it is going, so it feels like we don't have that type of connection for when I need her. I would like to see a change in a better education and find a better and fun way to keep students interested in class.

Monticello High School is painfully mid --which is not-- a bad thing. The diverse student body is made of all different types of people, you got your low achieving kids chilling outside the school, the high ambition valedictorians; this time inside the classroom, the gangsters camping the bathrooms, the "I can't be bothered kids" hiding behind their laptop screens doing who knows what, and finally, the good ol' jocks. My advice is: pick wisely which group to fit in to.

Monticello High School offers programs specifically targeted to helping student exploration of their interests. We have the Health and Medical Science Academy that focuses on training students in a pre-med environment and teaching them about other health sciences. We have an exceptional athletic program that welcomes all students of different backgrounds and experiences. The classes offered have a range of difficulty from standard to AP which allows students to challenge themselves.

I went to this school, but lived just on the border of Nelson. They basically handed me a letter telling me I was being kicked out or being charged $10,000 to finish my senior year! They forced me out of a comfortable environment, despite the fact that I was a straight A student and we'll behaved. I...
