Eliza Chappell Elementary School sits on the north end of Ravenswood and adjoins Winnemac Park. It serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and has an average enrollment of more than 500 students. The school is a magnet cluster school, which are specialized neighborhood schools that focus their curriculum on areas such as fine and performing arts, world language and technology. Eliza Chappell Elementary's focus is on world language, specifically Spanish. All students study Spanish, and students who already speak Spanish at home study through a Heritage Language lens. Non-native speakers in six through eighth grades complete the equivalent of the first year of a high school Spanish course. The average standardized test scores for students are well above average in English and math. Beyond academics, Eliza Chappell Elementary offers extracurricular sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country and track. Students who want to participate in activities outside of sports can explore the chess team, garden club, computer club, student council and more. Friends of Chappell School, a non-profit founded in 2012 to support the school, helps maintain several nature-focused programs such as beekeeping and gardening.

Don’t trust what you read on Great Schools, their data for demographics is very out of date, more than 3 years old. They don’t keep this site up to date. This is a great school, I’m a parent of a student.

Amazing school, cannot say enough great things about it. My daughter just finished Kindergarten there and we've been very impressed. Highly engaged and supportive teachers and principal. Great neighborhood school on a beautiful campus connected to the park. Highly recommend sending your kids here!

Chappelle, the school district, and the whole area have become a top tier community to rival the best of the North Side. The kids love it. We feel they are very safe during school (and walking to and from) and seem supported at all times.Great community school.
