GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The best part of the school is that there are many competitive students from a diversity of backgrounds. This pushes you to be a better student. The worst part is probably the lack of effort put into extracurricular activities.

very competitive, everyone has very high grades/gpa and everyone is fighting for board positions in clubs and as the school is very overcrowded, its hard to make a name for yourself and win things as many clubs have hundreds of people. also, there are strict applications and MANY tough guidelines including previous grades, sat/psat exam scores, reccomendtions, and more to get into ap classes and many teachers grade very tough and a harder curriculum than other schools

The system for allowing people to choose their AP classes did not seem logical at the time but in retrospect it makes sense. Overall the school prepares the students for their college experience in a decent manner.

I love J. P. Stevens High School with all my heart. I'm currently a college freshman, and without a doubt J. P. Stevens' robust academics prepared me and my peers incredibly well for university courses. Students regularly earn admission into some of the nation's best colleges, and do very well once...
