The Farmington STEAM Academy serves 700 kindergarten through eighth grade students with a project-based learning model that emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Students attending Farmington STEAM are led to become "innovative thinkers and problem solvers." Students can supplement their academic studies with classes in Symphonic Band, Philharmonic Orchestra, Choir, languages like Spanish, Computer Coding, Horticulture, Psychology and Theater. Farmington STEAM Academy's School of Rock allows students to explore the history of pop culture by forming a rock band. Extracurriculars include the Mileage Club, Junior Optimist Club, STEAM Studio, Math Pentathlon, Science Olympiad, Robotics, Community Service, Lego Club, Chess Wizards, Cartooning, the Soccer Club and Farmington STEAM Academy's vibrant athletic programming. The "Iron Horses" compete in basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and track. Students are also taught to collaborate with one another in shared spaces that encourage an exchange of information. Farmington STEAM Academy's think tank, makerspace, and fabrication lab offer cooperative learning experiences, and character development at Farmington STEAM Academy focuses on "self-regulation, initiative, responsibility, confidence" and "empathy." Supporting innovation, Farmington STEAM Academy's curriculum includes hands-on and real world applications that uniquely prepare students for future high school, college and professional careers in a dynamic and creative classroom.
