I have had multiple teachers leave part-way through the year, stating both the administration and student behavior as reasons for leaving. Long-term subs are common. Many positions have so much turn over the students aren't prepared for the higher level classes that come after. There are a few hidden gems when it comes to teachers who truly care. Bathrooms are always locked thanks to kids destroying them, vaping, smoking, and skipping class. Even with the low traffic, they're always wet and dirty. The academics have me worried for my readiness for college. I feel I don't have the proper skills, and yet I am exhausted from the work environment at North Side High School. So many kids are failing, no matter how easy the teachers make their class. They will go as far as have exams open book and open notes and kids will still fail because they simply don't try. The energy at North Side is so low. Teachers complain about lack of effort and disrespect towards authority.

This is my first year here at North Side. It's taken me a while to get used to everything but I really like my classes and most of the other students are nice and involve everyone

North Side is a widely diverse school, and has never failed at including its students. I have always felt challenged by my teachers, and was able to understand how supportive they truly are. The only thing I do not like is how rowdy sone of the kids get at times, but it's dealt with greatly by staff.

Enrolling my child at NSHS has been one of the best decisions I've made for their education. From the moment we stepped onto the campus, we were greeted warmly by the staff who exemplify professionalism and dedication. The facilities are modern and well-maintained, providing a safe and inspiring env...

NSHS has, and is, making great progress! Beside the hard working, dedicated staff, NS is a great cultural experience where anyone willing can earn a top rate education. GreatSchools rating does not take into account the percentages of English language learners, over 10%, and the number of special ed...

North Side is an urban school, yes, but that doesn't make it bad. NS has a dynamic principal who is REALLY involved and present in the halls of the school---the teachers strive for success, and we have a few teachers who have gone over and above their duty to ensure that our son make the grade. The...

Two daughters have graduated from North Side HS and we had no complaints. It is a public school, and located in an urban area, but nothing we experienced suggests this school should be rated as poorly as GreatSchools indicates. It seems to me GreatSchools does nothing to take into account excellence...
