In a quiet residential area of Glen Allen, close to where Route 1 and I-295 merge, you’ll find Longdale Elementary (Longdale) at 9500 Norfolk Street.
Originally a 1922 wood-framed building that was destroyed by a fire in 1933, Longdale was rebuilt less than a half mile away at its current location and is now a brick building. The school recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Part of the Henrico County Schools system, Longdale Elementary prides itself on its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects, as well as the collaboration across grade levels.
Approximately 500 prekindergarten through fifth-grade students attend Longdale with an average student-teacher ratio of around 20-to-1.
Longdale Elementary is the proud home of the Tigers, where school officials say, each student is safe, respectful and respected during the educational journey. Administration at Longdale describe the school as a warm, inviting, compassionate, and inclusive community school that’s a great place to learn.
Students here appreciate the school’s multiple playground areas and large outdoor blacktops for games. In addition to core academics, music and art, students here can also enhance their education with extracurriculars including safety patrol and Student Council Association.

Longdale is an amazing school that is very supportive of students of all abilities, needs, gifts, and talents. The teachers are amazing and administration is super positive. I am thankful that my rising 5th grader attends Longdale and that my 4 year old will start kindergarten there this fall!

well I went there for my kindergarden year I had Ms.Bardon she was a nice teacher and let me do her hair. I couldn't ask for a better school or staff. Parents are always welcome and they are always having events for the children and their family. Our family was looking to move, but we have decided to wait until our children have completed all 5 years.
