GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Hempstead highschool is an okay school. There could be a bunch of things they can fix. They could add more classes & more things to help prepare students for real life.

Entering this school at the age of 13 was scary. Parents would tell me how dangerous it was because of the gangs and fights that would constantly occur. I was surprised to find that this wasn't true. Kids weren't being murdered daily and there is good security. The school is beautiful and most teachers are kind. What I would change about this school is the school lunch. It's extremely unhealthy and it lacks variety. I, luckily, pack my own lunch. A luxury many students don't have.

Before anything else, I am basing this opinion on my experience and "career" in the high school in question. The school does have its strengths and weaknesses. However, my high school experience was affected by covid, so my high school life may fall differently.
