An elite academic institution committed to upholding a standard of excellence, West University Elementary enrolls 1,141 students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. The school encourages a thirst for learning through reading. So much so that the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) organizes an annual read-a-thon fundraiser, which has been known to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. The PTO is heavily involved in educating its children and commits to supporting the school and staff. Additionally, the organization assembles several other fundraisers, such as the West U Halloween Dash and the Kids Fun Run. Reading isn’t the only enriched subject. Math lovers in grades third through fifth can join the math club, which meets up for practice and competitions via Zoom. Career parents can rest assured knowing their children are well-taken care of after school hours. West University participates in the iKids U program. It provides kids with snacks, homework assistance, and enrichment activities. Kids have the opportunity to learn photography, how to write creatively, how to cook, and more. Serving in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) since 1928, West University Elementary sits at 3756 University Boulevard.

It's very safe. It has a great nurse always available, very low to no bullying and their is always someone to talk to about anything.

There are always parents at the school and mentors there for students. All teachers and staff are available for college help. There is an abundance of technology at the students finger tips. They make sure everyone has what they need to succeed.

My son attended this elementary school and the atmosphere and environment were stuffy, unwelcoming, toxic, and cliche! This school falls under HISD, but seems to operate as they please in a negative fashion. Diversity was non-existent and real learning was not taking place here. Staff were not warm...

We are finishing four years at this school. The high quality of teachers we have experienced has been the highlight. Three years we had very experienced teachers and one year a first year teacher (who had degrees in education). All were extremely dedicated. The last three years have been under leade...
