GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Truman High School is in the Independence School District which has a unique system of pathways of courses for students to test career paths by selecting courses in certain academies as their electives. With this system applied, it was very easy to know what courses I wanted to enroll in and figure out what I wanted to do in the future.

When I attended Truman High School the diversity was around and the students acceptance was great. All the teachers were involve with the students and always found ways to help them in time of need. And during the pandemic the found ways for students to be safe and provided ways for academic help. Their curriculum was something everyone could join and participate in. Their prostart program was what help students get into better depth in their careers and get better education.

I am a first generation high school student my parents come from Honduras where the education system is poor or educational recourses are nearly non existent. At Truman high school I have the opportunity and the educational recourse they never had. The community at Truman is very unified and the clubs and extracurriculars are abundant. the teachers I've had have been very patient with me and they understand that not everyones learning method is the same they do their best to teach so everyone can further their education and they do their best to prepare us for what's to come after high school. I enjoy the friendships I've made and the feeling of readiness for college. I know not everyones opinion about Truman is the same but overall Truman is a good school.

My experience at this school was horrible, the first 7 weeks I didn’t have a school issued device, the classrooms are overpacked there’s barely in any walking space in each classroom, most teachers don’t care about your mental health. Your only allowed 5 passes per week and that’s it I watched a kid...

From the halls of Truman, you'll hear children crying from their bodies being contorted and their bones being crushed. Nobody can move throughout the hallways without slow walkers, yelling people, and a stupidly congested T. The school used to be a middle school. It's not meant for all of these peop...
