Once known as Kirby-Smith Middle School, Springfield Middle School is a magnet program school that offers several math, science and technology options. The science, technology, engineering, arts and math, or STEAM, program includes concentrations such as information technology, digital media, coding, engineering, and visual and performing arts, and math, science and technology. The school also has an accelerated program. Gifted students participate in an academically talented curriculum that challenges the individual. This allows earning high school credits in algebra, geometry, Spanish, biology, and African American history. Participants engage in competitions and critical thinking projects. Springfield Middle School sponsors many athletic opportunities and clubs. Sports include football, swimming, soccer, softball, and more. Activities and clubs available are dance team, art, zoological society, robotics, yearbook and band. The circa-1923 Mediterranean Revival-style building has elements of Spanish and Italian architecture and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

If you want to send your child here please reconsider. This school is full of children who have no respect. The students and some staff will curse! I am currently going here and have been sexually harassed by another student. I wrote two reports and gone to the dean of students, but nothing has happ...

Overall this school was good to me socially as I befriended basically everyone there but in terms of the actual academics it was not as good because many of the teachers there did not do their jobs as teachers and often sat around and did nothing all of the time.
