The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

International Community School in Kirkland embodies both the words "international" and "community" found in its name. Through lessons, clubs, and whole school activities like the annual Camp Phoenix, there are opportunities to connect to people of all backgrounds and ages. While there may not be many electives, the core curriculum is strong, especially in English, Art and Math.

The best part of ICS is the academic rigor and amount of preparation for college. It has a culture of excellence, which translates into the classes and curriculum. The worst part is easily the lack of sports, events, and typical high school experience.

The academics at the school are superior to most. The clubs are not plentiful but the ones that are provided usually perform well in competitions or are well regarded.
Extremely toxic culture, same set of teachers for far too many years - very easy for them to develop favorites and not change. Grading scale is unhelpful for college applications, curriculum is too strict with very few electives to choose from - no useful life skills courses.
