GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My overall experience at pope was positive. I would send my children here. Overall the academics were good and teachers were mostly* good. I would say the negatives would be student culture being very divided and clique-y but that is how it is at every school. I would change the counseling department slightly to be more involved with students during the beginning of high school.

Did not feel as though the student body was welcoming. Felt competitive and stressful, lots of fear mongering about the future.

I thought it was a good school. There are not as many academic opportunities as in other high schools in the area. The coaches who also taught students were the best teachers, as they connected with students better.

I’m happy that my son likes his school and he is doing so much better and he feels safe. At first I was a little concern with the percentage of African American student bc there are only 6 or 7 percent students that are black but it didn’t make any difference. He haven’t gotten any problems at all a...

This school places a ridiculous emphasis on sports. It overwhelms the communications from school, the social media, and public student celebrations and accolades. There is not enough diversity in elective options. The school schedule changed daily, which is incredibly hard to keep track of. Worse, t...

Zero. Every year we regret not switching to private or going the Magnet route. It’s shocking Pope is so highly rated. Also those high SAT ACT scores are mostly due to tutoring or significant efforts at home. We can’t wait to be out of Pope!

Both of my children attended Pope and we could be more pleased with the experience. Both of my children blossomed and thrived at this school. It has been really great for our family. It's a private school level education in a public school.
